Backstage Partners with Aspendos to Bring Crypto, NFTs & the Metaverse to Theater in Turkey
26 April 2022: We are excited to announce Backstage has signed a new partnership with Aspendos Born Again, an International Creative Talent Agency program committed to taking the ancient Aspendos Amphitheater back to its glory days.
With this partnership, Backstage has made a big move into Turkey — a country with a high level of crypto adoption. The belief is that our technology will be well-received here. Since Aspendos regularly hosts top international talents, the cooperation will also present the opportunity for Backstage tech to be used by famous musicians and artists.
For Aspendos, this partnership will integrate crypto payments, NFT ticketing and metaverse events into their offerings and operations. They’ll also be among the first in Turkey to have such capabilities — and that should make their events all the more attractive.
A new cultural program founded by the International Creative Talent Agency and fully supported by the Turkish Culture and Tourism Department. Aspendos is on a mission to revive the once glorious Aspendos Ancient Theater and bring it back to its former imperial splendor.
Aspendos is located to the east of Antalya and the amphitheater was built in the 2nd century AD during the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. The theater has a capacity of 7,300 people and can still be used for performances and festivals. Its galleries, stage decorations and acoustics all testify to its architect Zenon’s brilliance. Next to the stage, there is a small museum where you can see some of the masks and clay tickets from ancient times.
The initiative already has an extensive schedule planned for 2022 and beyond. Kool and the Gang, an American R&B funk band, and Sister Sledge, a famous vocal group, will perform on the 19th of June. In July, Aspendos will host the Jazz Festival, which will have headliners such as Matt Bianco and Jeff Lorber. In August, the Classic Festival will host classic artists such as Alexandro Safina, Cristina Ramos and Jonathan Antoine. In August, Aspendos will also host the Blues Festival, headlined by Calvin Richardson and Chick Rodgers.
Apart from being one of the most visited ancient sites in Turkey, Aspendos Theater offers Backstage a great venue to introduce our technology to tens of thousands of tourists and locals. We look forward to working with Aspendos during these upcoming events.
